Course Description

This course will focus on creating websites that are optimized for mobile devices. Topics covered will include designing for the mobile web, the mobile first design philosophy, responsive design, and touch based design patterns. Technologies and techniques used will include, but are not limited to, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, progressive enhancement, device detection, media and storage API’s, and geolocation.

Objectives

  1. Students should be able to recogonize modern web design requirements
  2. Students should be able to identify proper interaction models for modern web design
  3. Students should be able to create websites using responsive design techniques including media queries
  4. Students should be able to use responsive image techniques in responsively designed websites
  5. Students should be able to be able to use the mobile first design philosophy
  6. Students should be able to create websites exhibiting touch based interactions
  7. Students should be able to create websites using progressive enhancement
